Nursery/Child Care Assistant 
Children, Youth and Families (CYF) Ministry at Saint James strives to offer meaningful experiences to all who seek fellowship and worship on its campus. Job title: Nursery/Child Care Assistant

Ministry Department: Children, Youth and Families

Location: Lancaster City, PA

Terms: Part-Time, Per Diem – 2 hours/week, as needed

Salary/rate: $15 per hour or $30/Sunday

Requirements: Sunday Mornings and other days as needed

Duties and responsibilities

  • Cover Sundays for childcare
  • Ensure children have good hygiene and changing diapers as necessary
  • Clean interactive areas when/where needed
  • Serve snacks to children as needed
  • Read and play with children as needed
  • Help maintain contact with the children’s parents and contacting them in the case of an emergency
  • Assist Teacher and CYF ministries as needed

Qualifications

  • Open to training and education
  • Sensitivity and approach to children of diverse backgrounds and various needs
  • Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with and caring for children
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills to converse with children, fellow professional caregivers and parents or guardians
  • Patience and stamina for keeping up with the demands of children of all ages
  • Organizational skills to handle multiple children at a time
  • Able to lift 25lbs
  • Able to ascend/descend stairs

    Education and clearance requirements

    • Minimum age 13, or based on experience and maturity
    • PA State Criminal Clearance
    • Child Abuse Clearance
    • FBI Clearance
    • Safeguarding God’s Children Training

    Additional helpful skills

    • Some experience with infants and children
    • Valid CPR and first-aid certifications
    • Multilingual Skills
