Contemplative Prayer: Teaching

Meditation and Godly Play – Listening for God

Join us for meditation in the month of September! Each evening we will begin by exploring a different Godly Play story based on the Quaker Godly Play story Listening for God. We will hear stories about some of the ways we can listen for God—through other people, gifts of Creation or sacred stories. Each story will be presented by a trained Godly Play storyteller followed by time to ‘do your work’ in responding to the story through art materials, journaling, playing with the story and reflecting. The evening will end with our 20 minute meditation period. All ages are welcome and to attend  this series!

  • September 4,  Listening for God
  • September  11,  Listening for God through another person (Story of Ruth)
  • September  18,  Listening for God through the gifts of Creation (Creation story)
  • September  25,  Listening for God through sacred stories (Exodus story)

Our time together begins with gentle movement at 6:30 PM in the narthex (optional) with simple and easy movements to release energy and help us calmly transition into our meditation at 7 PM. The Aramaic Beatitudes will follow at 7:30 PM. No mat, equipment or special clothing is needed. Come any time during the evening.
