Women’s Gathering Lenten Series
March 9 @ 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
The Book of Forgiving: The Fourfold Path for Healing Ourselves and Our World
Our topic for Lent is forgiveness. Women’s Gathering will discuss The Book of Forgiving by Anglican Archbishop and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Desmond Tutu, and his daughter Mpho who holds a Master of Divinity degree. Both experienced apartheid in South Africa. Archbishop Tutu headed the Truth and Reconciliation Commission established in 1995 to help South Africa heal in the post-Apartheid era.
The Fourfold Path embraced in this book is rooted in the South African concept, Ubuntu: “…the philosophy and belief that a person is only a person through other people” (Introduction). Join Women’s Gathering as we journey along the Fourfold Path with father and daughter. They graciously share their experiences, stories, academic findings, prayers, and suggestions for building “a world of forgiveness.” Archbishop Tutu insists: “We take care of our world by taking care of each other- it is as simple and difficult as that” (Chapter 10: “A World of Forgiveness”).
This lay-led group explores topics related to faith and spiritual practices and periodically seeks outside sources and opportunities to deepen their experience. Women’s Gathering typically meets on the third Saturday of the month for fellowship, study, prayer, and worship. Please check the Events Calendar for specific Saturdays each month. The group often meets more often during Advent and Lent. For more information about Women’s Gathering, please email Lorraine Rollo.
