Women’s Gathering Winter Series: Sister Wendy on Prayer
Join Women’s Gathering as we discuss Sister Wendy Beckett’s book, Sister Wendy on Prayer. Perhaps best know for her TV appearances as an art commentator, Roman Catholic nun Sister Wendy explains the relationship between art and prayer: Although I am as yet far from being the Sister Wendy I was born to be, I acknowledge with gratitude that I am much closer, more integrated, more alive because of my contemplation of art.
We look forward to a lively discussion of Sister Wendy’s personal and moving expression of faith in God’s desire for relationship through communion with him and how prayer played a part in her decision to provide commentary on Britain’s National Gallery thus launching her into a new calling.
Saint James offers opportunities for spiritual growth in smaller group settings that meet throughout the week throughout the year. Whether it is a book group, a Bible study, or a discussion group, we seek to offer diverse offerings to grow deeper in our faith through community and encouragement from each other.
This lay-led group explores topics related to faith and spiritual practices and periodically seeks outside sources and opportunities to deepen their experience. Women’s Gathering typically meets on the third Saturday of the month for fellowship, study, prayer, and worship. Please check the Events Calendar for specific Saturdays each month. The group often meets more often during Advent and Lent. For more information about Women’s Gathering, please email Lorraine Rollo.
