DESCRIPTION:Children’s Chapel* meets weekly during the 10:30 AM Sunday Mass. Children and youth ages 3 and above begin the morning in the sanctuary where they can experience the processional and the opening congregational prayers. \nAfter the opening Collect\, children are invited to the front of the sanctuary to make their way to the chapel and participate in songs\, prayers\, brief meditation and storytelling of the day’s Gospel and/or New and Old Testament readings. \nThe Godly Play® teaching method includes using beautiful wooden figures\, candles\, and symbolic colors to aid our storytelling as we listen to God’s word for us. Children often respond to the story using simple art supplies including crayons\, construction paper\, origami paper and Model Magic air dry clay. \nChildren return to the Sanctuary during the passing of the Peace. They are welcome to take part in Holy Communion.

It asserts that God is present in our world and actively involved in our lives. It is a pathway to deeper prayer\, good decisions guided by keen discernment and an active life of service to others. \nThis 34-week program is designed for individuals who wish to commit to personal transformation by encountering God and deepening their experience of the divine. It will involve a daily and weekly commitment to spiritual practices with help and support from spiritual director Pat Latshaw. \nThe book\, The Ignatian Adventure by Kevin O’Brien will be used for discussion and to guide the group’s approach to spiritual growth with techniques that have been in use for almost 500 years. \nThe cost is $875 for 34 sessions. Join us each week as we remember some of the people who shaped the Church through the centuries using readings\, scripture\, prayers and music! We use liturgy from Common Worship: Daily Prayer and the commemorations are from Lesser Feasts and Fasts\, 2018. Some light incense is used on occasion. Invite a friend!

DESCRIPTION:With Father David Peck\nand Professor Randall Zachman\nPeace at the Last: The meaning of life in the light of death\nTerm 1\, February 19 – March 26\, 2026\nEntirely on Zoom \nIn its seventh year\, the 2026 Mercy Seminar will explore what different faith traditions can teach us about living our best life and dying our best death. How can the certainty of death help create focus and deepen gratitude rather than increase depression and anxiety? Is death really “nothing at all” or “a simple turning out of the lights”\, or “the gate to eternal life”? \nExploring short selected readings of sacred Hindu\, Buddhist\, Jewish\, Christian\, and Muslim scriptures as well as recent secular spiritual writing\, we will find in contemplative practices in our well-established Zoom format a remarkably intimate coast-to-coast community. \nIn the first term\, we will focus on Hindu and Buddhist conceptions of birth and death and how one can escape the inherent suffering in the cycle of birth and death. \nIn term two\, we will focus on the emergence of Jewish and Muslim theologies of resurrection and the world to come. \nIn term three\, we will focus on Christian understandings of resurrection and eternal life. \nUsing contemplative practices\, we will seek to come to an empathetic understanding of the hopes and visions of Jews\, Muslims\, and Christians in the land of Israel/Palestine. Our goal is to develop in a contemplative way\, a deeper understanding of and sensitivity towards these contested perspectives so that we all might pray for the peace of Jerusalem with greater spiritual understanding and compassion. \nClasses meet on six consecutive Thursday evenings via Zoom from 7:00 to 8:30 PM EST. Each term stands alone but\, when taken together\, offers a layered understanding as our knowledge of the issues increases. All sessions are recorded and available to participants for asynchronous viewing. \nEach session will be recorded in Zoom and available for viewing for those who have completed their registration. \nCost: $75/term\, includes access to course readings\, recorded sessions for\nasynchronous viewing\, instructor office hours and podcasts. \nScholarships are available; please email Nancy LeVasseur for more information. \nClick here to register for Term 1.
