Contemplative Masses

The Lord’s supper in a contemplative setting

Sunday evenings at 5 PM in the chapel

On Sunday evenings, people from many faith communities draw together in the modern chapel inside this historic church for a contemplative service of Holy Communion. This quiet, reflective service draws from the great spiritual wisdom of Jesus in the gospels.

We also explore holy teaching and sacred music of other faith traditions, including regular use of the middle-eastern stringed instrument called the oud (rhymes with ‘mood’). Come as you are, adopt the posture that’s most comfortable (yoga mats are welcome; chairs are available) and allow yourself to enter into a very different experience of God and Holy Communion.

Outdoor Contemplative Services 2019

5 PM June, July and August at Lancaster Country Day School

During June, July and August, the contemplative service will be held weekly outdoors at Lancaster Country Day School. This setting offers an opportunity to explore contemplative worship in the beauty of God’s creation. The mass consists of a very simplified liturgy with readings and music centered around earth and creation. A twenty-minute period is also incorporated into the service to meditate, sit in nature, or walk the labyrinth. On the last Sunday of the month, the service will conclude with Holy Communion.
