Term 3 | September 26 - October 31:  Zen - Christian Encounter

The notion of “Zen” is both a popular cliché and a rich spiritual path that can deepen the Christian practice of prayer. Term 3 welcomes new participants to the Mercy Seminar as we consider how the Zen Buddhist tradition can enrich Christian insight and where Christian insight diverges from Zen and Buddhist more generally. Join us this fall as we examine the discoveries Christians have made exploring Zen Buddhist thought and life and the insights Zen Buddhists have had into the nature of Christian faith. We will explore theology and meditation practices alongside a Zen teacher, a Jesuit Zen master and other Christian theologians whose insights have been shaped by the best of Eastern and Western spiritual practices.
