Nursery/Child Care Teacher

Job title: Nursery/Child Care Teacher

Ministry Department: Children, Youth and Families

Location: Lancaster City, PA

Terms: Part-Time, Per Diem – 5 hours/week

Salary/rate: $25 per hour or $50/Sunday

Requirements: Sunday Mornings and other days as needed

Duties and responsibilities

  • Cover Sundays for childcare
  • Recruit, coordinate, and develop volunteers, assistants or other childcare workers to help cover Sunday mornings and or events where childcare is offered
  • Ensure children have good hygiene and changing diapers as necessary
  • Clean interactive areas when/where needed
  • Serve snacks to the children as needed
  • Read and play with children as needed
  • Maintain contact with the children’s parents and contacting them in the case of an emergency

Qualifications

A Child Nursery Care Teacher is responsible for maintaining a safe and fun environment for children. Their duties include, but not limited to, coming up with creative and educational activities, and on occasion, preparing and serving snacks to children, and maintaining a clean environment for the children. A Child Care Teacher must be skilled in interacting with and providing basic care to children of various ages. Some of the most important skills and qualifications they should have include:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with children from infant through 3 years of age
  • Sensitivity and approach to children of diverse backgrounds and various need
  • Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with and caring for children
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills to converse with children, fellow professional caregivers and parents or guardians
  • Patience and stamina for keeping up with the demands of children of all ages
  • Organizational skills to handle multiple children at a time
  • Able to lift 25lbs.
  • Able to ascend/descend stairs

Education and clearance requirements

Preference for those holding credentials and experience in early childhood education, child development or another related field. Applicants currently in high school will be considered.

  • Safeguarding God’s Children Training

Additional helpful skills

  • Valid CPR and first-aid certifications
  • Multilingual Skills
