Responding to human need by loving service

As vibrant members of the Downtown Lancaster Community, we are committed to providing effective ministries that meet community needs with a special emphasis on social and racial injustices.

Five Marks of Mission

  • To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom
  • To teach, baptize and nurture new believers
  • To respond to human need by loving service
  • To seek to transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and to pursue peace and reconciliation
  •  To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth

Vision Statement

To seek and to serve Christ in all persons and to deepen our understanding of God’s love for all people following the Five Marks of Mission of the Anglican Community. The mission of The Church is the mission of Christ.

Key Areas for Saint James

  • Creation care and the environment
  • Education: Ollie’s Closet, mentoring at Carter & MacRae Elementary School
  • Social justice
  • Neighborhood food insecurity
  • Prisons

Our Goals

  1. To support our key areas by engaging in projects that are, local in scope, sustainable in the use of parish and personal resources and are transformational in their impact
  2. When relevant and appropriate, to function as an information clearinghouse by screening requests presented to the parish office, collating information from the wider community, passing information to parish members for anyone interested to act and developing a short term plan for involvement.

As vibrant members of the Downtown Lancaster Community, we are committed to providing effective ministries that meet community needs with a special emphasis on social and racial injustices.
