As part of our 275th anniversary, The Rev. Dr. Reid Trulson shared, via Zoom, his ground breaking work on reclaiming the life and ministry of Charlotte Atlee Rowe, the first woman to be appointed a missionary by any American denomination. Below is his presentation.
The Rev. Dr. Reid Trulson is a Baptist minister who has engaged in pastoral ministry and mission in the USA and across the world serving with Scripture Union and American Baptist International Ministries. Educated at the University of Minnesota (B.S.) and Fuller Theological Seminary (M. Div. and D. Min.), from 2006-2016 he was Executive Director/CEO of American Baptist International Ministries with oversight of American Baptist mission work in more than 70 countries.
Dr. Trulson is the author of introductions to Lee B. Spitzer’s, Baptists, Jews and the Holocaust: The Sincere Hand of Friendship and Daniel L. Buttry’s Blessed are the Peacemakers as well as many articles in the American Baptist Quarterly including “Reclaiming Charlotte White Rowe, America’s First Appointed Woman Missionary.”
