Silk Road
Eurasia Consort presents music found on the Silk Road in East Asia. During the 6th century Buddhist music filled the region between India and China. Japan became a cul-de-sac of music and instruments. The new ensemble includes kugo, hokyo, biwa, and shakuhachi — instruments available in Shosoin, Japan, in the world’s oldest museum. Eurasia Consort brings to light ancient and fascinating East Asian music. This Eastern repertoire is little known, both in the East and West. We now hope it may find its rightful place in the Early Far Eastern canon of music. Our mission is to revive ancient music using the music manuscripts and instruments that survive from these early times. Click here to purchase tickets.
